The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung (FP Unila) which is incorporated in the Association of Indonesian Food Technology Experts (PATPI) in the Department of Agricultural Product Technology (THP FP Unila), on Tuesday 10 October 2017, held a National Seminar with the theme "The Role of Food Technology Experts in Realizing National Food Security”, located at the multi-purpose building hotel Novotel Bandar Lampung.
This National Seminar and Annual Meeting, is a series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Indonesian Food Technology Expert Association (PATPI), which in 2017, Lampung Province was entrusted with hosting the organizers of the annual meeting of the Indonesian Food Technology Expert Association. .
Head of the Lampung branch of PATPI, Dr. Samsu U. Nurdin (THP FP Unila) said, "the purpose of this event is to increase the role of food technology experts in order to achieve national food security, to become a place for food technology experts to communicate and socialize PATPI to a wide audience, as well as to increase interactions between researchers and also PATPI with the government and the industrial world”.
National Seminar on the theme "The Role of Food Technology Experts in Realizing National Food Security" Attended by:
1. The Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, who in this case was represented by Ms. Enny Ratnaningtyas, as the Director of the Fisheries Nutrition Seafood Product Industry.
2. The Governor of Lampung, who in this case was represented by Mr. Sutono M.M., as Regional Secretary of Lampung Province.
3. The Mayor of Bandar Lampung, who in this case was represented by Mr. Ir. Pola Pardede, as Assistant II for Economics and Development.
4. Chairman of PATPI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rindit Pambayun, M.P., along with the PATPI Lampung branch.
5. Chancellor of the University of Lampung, who in this case was represented by Dr. Warsono, as Chair of the University of Lampung's LP2M.
6. Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Irwan Sukri Banuwa, M.Sc.
7. Director of the Polytechnic, which in this case is represented by the Head of LPPM Polinela
8. Participants in the National Seminar on the 50th Anniversary of PATPI.
In his speech at the event, Prof. Dr. Ir. Irwan Sukri Banuwa, M.Sc., said, "The head of the Unila FP THP department met the Unila FP Dean. Saying that, FP Unila was entrusted with the celebration of the 50th year of PATPI, holding annual meetings and national seminars. We "FP UNILA" are immediately ready to implement. Thank God, with the consideration that we (Unila FP) are not alone in PATPI Lampung majoring in THP FP Unila, because we have the Governor of Lampung, we have the Mayor of Bandar Lampung, and we are sure that this activity can go well.”
Prof. Irwan in his hopes said, "hopefully we will continue to carry out many activities like this in order to build knowledge about food technology and other agricultural sciences, and of course to develop Lampung province in general. Therefore, we sincerely thank the Governor of Lampung, the Mayor of Bandar Lampung, and all parties who have supported this event so that it can run well.”
Furthermore, Prof. Irwan said, "Agricultural production activities from upstream to downstream are really needed. To increase added value, of course, it is not enough for us to produce from raw materials or only from one upstream sector. However, from the downstream sector it will also increase the added value we have.”
"Perhaps we can mention Lampung Province, number one in production casava or cassava nationally. Likewise corn number three, shrimp number one, pineapple number one, then and others. Therefore, if we only produce in the upstream sector, not followed by downstream, then we cannot take the added value, so matters relating to food technology are very important.”
"Hopefully with this seminar, the benefits we will get are not only for Lampung Province, but for friends who attended from various provinces in Indonesia. So that you can reap the maximum benefits.
