JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – If the National Selection to Enter State Universities (SNMPTN) this year is only for 2013 graduates, then 2012 or 2011 SMA/SMK/MA graduates who wish to continue their higher education need not worry. This is because the opportunity remains open through the State Higher Education Entrance Joint Selection (SBMPTN) route.
The General Chair of the 2013 SBMPTN Committee, Akhmaloka, said that the pathway launched on Friday (15/3/2013) was based on selection of written exam results and was open to students who passed the National Examination in 2011 and 2012 as well as students who failed to get seats at PTN. through SNMPTN. Registration for the new SBMPTN will open on May 13 and close on June 7. While the selection exam itself will be held for two days, namely on June 18-19.
"We opened this system to facilitate students who did not pass the SNMPTN last year or this year and also students who want to move campuses," said Akhmaloka at the launch of the SBMPTN at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Jakarta, Friday (15/3/2013).
The man who also serves as Chancellor of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) explained that unlike in 2012, participants for the written exam this time could choose three study programs with three groups of exams provided. If last year the three groups were Science, IPS and IPC, this time it consisted of the Science-Technology group, the Social-Humanities group and the mixed group.
"Now all groups can choose the three study programs they are interested in," said Akhmaloka.
For the SBMPTN itself, participants who take part will be charged a fee based on the exam group they choose. This year, the committee has set a budget of IDR 175,000 for the science-technology group and the social-humanities group. Meanwhile, for mixed groups, the price is more expensive, with a fee of IDR 200,000.
